MicroTraffic is a transportation data company that uses AI to extract near-miss collision data from traffic video and diagnose road user risk. We are a passionate team of engineers and data scientists working to solve a global epidemic that is traffic fatalities and serious injuries.

 

Our goal is to equip traffic engineers and decision makers to create a transportation system where traffic fatalities and serious injuries do not occur. We provide the high resolution risk data they need to proactively implement the correct roadway modifications and designs.

Traffic Safety Engineer (EIT)

Primary Responsibilities:

  • provide engineering grade start-to-finish supervision and management of process that produces diagnostic reports

  • assist in the identification of countermeasures for diagnosed road safety problems

  • conduct research regarding the application of surrogate safety science by practicing traffic safety engineers

  • supervise teams of process research analysts;

  • develop AI/ML training datasets;

  • analyze and correct sources of process error;

  • contribute to process design and optimization;

 

Additional Responsibilities:

  • attend conferences and trade shows; staff our booth to answer questions about safety video analytics

  • publish articles about case studies and surrogate safety research; give related presentations

  • interact with clients to support their success in using our technology

Skills and Qualifications Required:

  • B.Sc. or M.SC. in civil engineering and registration (or eligibility to register) as an EIT in Canada

  • Authorization to work in Canada and willingness to locate in Winnipeg. Please do not apply if this is not already in place. Visa sponsorship is not available. Remote work is not available.

  • Traffic safety experience is desirable but is not mandatory. Civil engineers with transportation coursework and  initial experience in geotech, structures, etc are welcome to apply. 

  • Proven track record of solving ambiguous problems with an unclear path forward;

  • Self-starter, results and detail oriented, exceptional organizational and multitasking abilities;

  • Excellent time management, analytical, and problem solving skills;

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills;

  • Humble attitude and willing to learn;

  • Willingness to work overtime

Computer Vision Engineers

We are continuously adding computer vision engineers to our team. Expertise in deep learning. Ready to work on multi-object spatial tracking problems through monocular video. Interesting problem subsets: improving trajectory continuity, improving computational efficiency, auto-spatial mapping of image domain to scene domain. We are looking for candidates with M.Sc. or Ph.D. degrees in computer science or computer engineering with a focus on deep learning computer vision. Candidates with one of these degrees in progress are also invited to apply for internships Prior work experience is not required. Our code is currently all in python and pytorch. Please do not apply if your degree is not in computer science or computer engineering, or if the degree is not focused on deep learning AI. The candidate must locate in Winnipeg and already be eligible to work in Canada (please do not apply for remote work or if you do not have authorization to work in Canada).
